This timepiece draws its design inspiration from the Hotaka Mountains, a majestic group of peaks over 3,000 meters high with jagged cliffs and steep slopes. These mountains are located near the Grand Seiko Shinshu Watch Studio, which owes its existence to the land's volcanic-induced rise.

The ever-present concept of ‘The Nature of Time’ is a cornerstone of Grand Seiko watch design, representing a Japanese spiritual reverence for the uniqueness of each moment. Grand Seiko watchmakers incorporate into their watch movements the progression of time with the utmost precision and create dials designed to capture the spectacular beauty of Japan's magnificent nature.

Incorporating a GMT hand and a 24-hour rotating bezel, this watch is designed to track multiple time zones. Its engine is Grand Seiko's legendary Spring Drive movement, a revolutionary technology which took 28 years to perfect. Boasting a faultless level of accuracy, this advanced system is powered by a mainspring and an electronic regulator, not requiring battery changes. Created by Seiko Watch Corporation, Spring Drive's second hand moves in a continuous, fluid motion, akin to the natural progress of time itself. The watch holds a 72-hour power reserve, displayed on the bottom left of the dial, plus its GMT hand can be adjusted to a new time zone without disrupting its precision.

The 44 mm case is protected by a sapphire crystal that extends over the rotating bezel, which adds to the watch's silent strength. The dual-curved sapphire is layered with an anti-reflective coating on both sides for optimal readability. Crafted from stainless steel, the robust case and bracelet are water-resistant up to 20 bar.
